Sandbach Striders

A strong group of 24 Striders took part in the race, navigating through the streets of Alsager and passing through the crowds of Crewe Road. As always, there was a curveball for the odd member who thought they signed up for a 5K instead of a five-mile - we've all been there!

The first Strider home on Sunday, February 2, was Mick Hutchins, who finished in an impressive 30:18 seconds. Mick was followed by Steve Reynolds who finished in 34:26.

The first female Strider to cross the line at Alsager School was Victoria Atherton who finished in 38:04.

The Alsager 5 promises to have a great atmosphere and never disappoints. From the buzz of the leisure centre hall, to the constant support on the street, the town comes out in force.

A Striders spokesman said: “It's always great to see so many runners out for an event like the Alsager 5. Especially because it's been such a huge part of the local race calendar for so long.

“A massive well done to everyone who took part, especially those who achieved their personal goals on the day or set a new personal best, what a fantastic way to start 2025.”
