On Saturday 11 members of the club took part in 4 different parkruns around the country, but at Congleton we took over the organisation of the event. From marshals, to timing, taking photographs, and race directing the club had been asked by the organisers to take over this week. Whilst parkrun is a free event the parks and lakes that are used each week do need maintaining, and Astbury mere (the home of the Congleton event) is no different. We organised a cake stall and raised over £100 to maintain the toilets at the mere. There were personal bests for Andy Bennett, and Gaynor Beckett, and Heather Carter finished the event as first lady.

Meanwhile at a very hot Arrow Valley Country Park near Redditch, Rachel Mason, was at the Isoman, an event that allows you to pick the parts and distances of a triathlon you like and prefer, so if you prefer a longer swim, or shorter bike, this is the event for you. Rason completed a 1.75mile swim, and a 6.55 mile run in times of 58:08 and 1:09:25 respectively.
On Sunday, Tony Taylor and Craig Edwards travelled North to complete in the first Wirral Ultra. Taking part on Wirral coastal trails loop, it is a 35 mile relatively flat event, which gives runners a good opportunity to complete their first ultra marathon. Despite feinting at the end of the event, Tony came in in 7th place, with a time of 5:18:24, and Craig finished in under 6 hours, with a time of 5:58:53.

Also on Sunday it was time for the popular Alderley Edge Bypass 10k. The event is run on smooth tarmac, and heads away from Wilmslow, before turning back and following the same route on the closed bypass. It has minor undulations, and provides entrants with good personal best potential, which David Sharp proved to be true! Full results from the club are below:

Lisa Highfield | 00:48:21 | 00:48:31 | |

Finally for this week, over in Yorkshire, Lucy Lee was at the Harroagte Town 10k, which is back after a break and advertises it as the fastest 10k in the County. With the HQ, start and finish line at in the picturesque Crescent Gardens, it proves to be a very popular 10k event. Lucy ran with her dad, and completed the event in 1:05:57.
